There are many advantages when you choose flanges made of aluminium. First, it is known to be a very lightweight material. Furthermore, it is also a material with a high strength, and it is easy to recycle when it is done serving its purpose as aluminium flange. Aluminium is also naturally protected with a coat of aluminium oxide on the surface, which ensures that the material is naturally resistant to corrosion. This layer is insoluble in water and opposite steel, which continues the rust process when the corrosion is started, the aluminium oxide layer on aluminium prevents the corrosion to spread. However, there are certain reservations since this corrosion resistance only applies in the pH-area between 5 and 8 and therefore not in acidic or basic environments.
